The D.O.T. Foundation (Donazione Organi e Trapianti – Organ Donation and Transplantation) is a non-profit organization established in 2017 through an initiative of the Regional Transplant Center of Piedmont and Aosta Valley (CRT). Its mission is to promote the culture of donation, support research and care in the field of transplantation, and foster collaboration between institutions, hospitals, citizens, and local organizations.
The connection with the Eye Bank (Banca delle Cornee) came about through a very special donation: one that a mother chose to make in memory of her daughter Chiara, who passed away prematurely last year and was a cornea donor. Through her selfless act, Chiara continued to generate life and hope, leaving a tangible mark of her generosity.
Thanks to the D.O.T. Foundation, this donation was transformed into a simple yet invaluable item for the daily operations of those working in donation and transplantation: a stainless-steel medical equipment cart. This is exactly what Chiara would have wanted: a concrete, useful gesture capable of helping others.
